Fantastic experience: Such lovely vets. Always look after my cat so well

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful experience here. The doctor(especially Hamish) takes amazing care of our dog and treats him with so much attention and kindness. You can genuinely see how much they care about the animals they look after. The service from the entire team is extraordinary — friendly, professional, and always helpful. It gives us great peace of mind knowing our dog is in such good hands. Highly recommend this place to any pet owner!

Negative experience: A few months ago (around November) our regular amazing vet Dr. Danielle was on leave so we went to the locum male vet, and I should’ve known that it wasn’t a good idea based on him having plenty available slots everyday, while the also amazing Dr. Sue had barely any. He was SO rough with our boy, and had not an ounce of the gentleness, kindness or sensitivity that Dr. Danielle and Dr. Sue have. So unsettling and upsetting as dog owners to feel like your animal has been handled with a lack of care, but being desperate for an appointment so having to deal with it (which also makes me lack confidence in his ability as he also made common sense mistakes/bad basic judgement). What’s the point of having a locum vet if he’s not going to be at the same, or similar standard, and the two other vets? Never again. On a seperate occasion, the vet nurse Gemma made a snarky/judgemental remark about the treatment our boy was getting, which came across like she was insinuating that it was due to something we did as owners, when the vet told us that he was actually more than likely born with it. Vet clinics are very heavy places to be sometimes, and vet nurses, and vets for that matter, should know how to navigate that appropriately. Dr. Sue and Dr. Danielle are gems and I will be sure not to stray from them again.

Fantastic experience: I had to make the difficult decision to euthanize my beloved elderly cat. The entire team was absolutely wonderful and made a hard experience much easier to bear. The staff were compassionate and caring, while also clearly and honestly explaining what would happen and how the process would unfold. Overall, I am deeply grateful for the kindness, compassion, and professionalism the team showed. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: My cat Circle has been under the care of Swanson Road Vet Clinic for four years now, and the service here has been amazing. Dr Sue and Dr Danielle are great. Circle is a very anxious cat, and they are always very gentle and patient with her. The vet nurses are very helpful as well.

Fantastic experience: We have been using these vets for more than a decade. Friendly staff, great treatment and solid advice.

Negative experience: Highly recommend to avoid this vet clinic. Straightforward desexing procedure wasn't straight forward at all. Cat was given the wrong drugs and kept for the day while she monitored and then rebooked in the following day. This is just one of two serious incidents there last year that happened. The following incident is being looked in too so I'll do another review once that's been investigated.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Swanson Road Veterinary Clinic highly enough. Dr Danielle Pereira was absolutely amazing. She took the time to answer all my questions clearly and thoroughly and made sure my dog Coco was comfortable throughout the visit. She was patient, kind, and more than happy to explain everything, which made the whole experience very reassuring. I have been bringing Coco here for the past five years and would not go anywhere else. The level of care, professionalism, and genuine compassion shown by the team keeps us coming back every time. Highly recommended.

Positive experience: I recently visited Swanson Vet for the first time to have two of my dogs euthanised. I want to sincerely thank the lady who administered the injections she was incredibly gentle, soft spoken, and understanding during one of the hardest moments. Her compassion truly meant a lot and made a painful experience more bearable. Aside from that, I was very disappointed by what happened immediately after the first dog was put to sleep. We were given a few moments to say goodbye and have a final moment with our beloved dog, but during this time a receptionist knocked on the door asking us to pay right away. This happened in the middle of our goodbyes. (Ofc we did it out still but really i want to leave this review) I found this extremely upsetting and insensitive. It would have meant so much to be allowed to finish our private moment before being approached about payment. Waiting until we left the room or allowing us to complete our farewells would have been far more appropriate. It felt rushed and took away from a moment that can never be replaced. While I appreciate the care shown by the vet nurse, I hope the clinic can be more mindful of timing and sensitivity around payment during euthanasia appointments, as these moments are deeply emotional for families.. EDIT; We were fully aware of the payment requirements and clearly communicated to two staff members that we would be paying for the cremation, which we were more than willing to do. Payment was never the issue. The issue was the poor timing and lack of coordination, which resulted in us being interrupted during our final goodbye. If payment was required beforehand, it should have been taken prior to the appointment starting not halfway through an emotional and irreversible moment. That responsibility lies with the clinic’s process, not the client. I also find it concerning that the response states SPCA was informed and policies were updated. In our case, SPCA did email the voucher directly to the clinic as instructed. Despite this, there was still a lack of clear communication and follow-through, and our own attempts to communicate with the clinic were not acknowledged. I personally emailed the clinic to correct a detail I had mistakenly provided about my dogs and received no response. This further reflects the lack of communication and follow-through we experienced. To clarify, during our phone call we clearly discussed that SPCA was providing the vouchers and that these needed to be emailed directly to the clinic. I relayed this information to the SPCA representative exactly as instructed. While explanations about past experiences with other clients were provided, they do not reflect our situation and felt more like justification rather than acknowledgement of mistakes made. In situations like euthanasia, sensitivity, clear communication, and accountability are essential. The veterinarian who performed the euthanasia was gentle and compassionate, and for that I am grateful. However, the overall experience and follow up handling could have been managed far better. I hope genuine reflection takes place so future families are not put through the same distress.

Fantastic experience: I ring them up out of the blue for my cat who had sprained his hind leg on Monday afternoon We are not in their systems but as a new client , they listen to my description of my cats dilemma They ask the necessary questions about the situation and also ask if my cat has been spayed of has been registered We established an appointment for later on in the afternoon. Near the actual time I ring them back and tell them that my cat hasn’t come back home yet and we may have to rebook but the voice of reason from the receptionist said not to rush , well ten minutes to our appointment They show genuine concern for our cat’s safety and us They are very professional in dealing with my crying cat all through the examination to the treatment and the care until I pick him up the next afternoon with his medication, all in all we are happy and will continue using them in the near future , thank Swanson Veterinary Clinic staff for your prompt response

Positive experience: We came here to put my 15yr old cat to sleep. I was upset of course. When my bf came to check us in the Receptionist said that he was already deceased ( even though he was alive in the car) they spent a good 10mins confused with the system until they spoke to the vet and said yes it's an emergency of course we can do it today. The vet was 10/10 lovely. It was a very calm and beautiful event.

Positive experience: Have been coming to this practice since I was a child (the last 3 decades) for childhood fur babies and now furbabies I have as an adult. Have had our pets entire lives from kittens right through to elderly here. This vet has seen our pets through a variety of concerns: car accident and surgery, diabetes diagnosis and treatment, cat fights, weight loss/weight gain, medical investigation and blood testing, addressing dental maintenance, euthanasia and other things in between. The receptionist/nurse (I can't remember her name) has a lovely phone manner and in person rapport. Also extremely thoughtful when we had a fur baby euthanasised, she took a paw print and nose impression for us. It hadn't occurred to us in our grief at the time this was a possibility and we are forever grateful for this. Dr Sue is also friendly, understanding, and is our go to when available. The rest of the staff also have a good rapport and non judgemental appearance. Afterpay is also a payment method that is available here. I imagine for as long as we are in the area, this will continue to be the practice we attend for our beloved furbaby family members care.

Negative experience: I would like to express my concerns regarding my recent experiences at Swanson Vet. Unfortunately, during my initial visit, I was late by 10 minutes due to an unforeseen car accident, which caused traffic delays. I was charged a $30 fee, and I was hopeful that I would still be able to get my pet vaccinated. However, I was informed that my appointment time had already been allocated to other clients, which prevented me from proceeding with the vaccination that day. This was particularly stressful for me, as my pet was due for vaccinations. In an effort to find a solution, one of the staff members kindly looked up other veterinary clinics nearby, and I ended up going to another clinic that charged me over $160something , despite their first-time client discount. I felt the $30 charge from my original appointment was unfortunate, especially since no consultation took place due to my late arrival. I decided to give Swanson Vet another try and arrived 30 minutes early for my next appointment to ensure I would be on time. I checked in 5 minutes before my scheduled time but found myself waiting as staff members were preoccupied with other tasks. When the veterinarian finally came to see me, she was 4 minutes late for my appointment. I learned that each appointment is scheduled for only 15 minutes, which added to the rushed atmosphere during the visit. I understand that managing a veterinary practice can be challenging and that time is valuable, but I believe it's important to approach these situations with compassion, especially when it involves the health of our pets. Negative experience: I check the website photo is look like her, anyway, i have to call at 5:10, told the reception i will be late for my 5:15 booking, if she told me can't see me if i late 5 mins, i can't stop go home, and i will still happy to pay for the arrival fee, also your message just say late arrival fee, not say can't see my puppy, anyway, I am not first time to come, i been there few year ago, my puppy eat something, need gastric laundering, the doctor have to let me paid full payment first, overview not save my puppy, i not sure is you or the old owner,and i just been last week too, I come early 5 mins, but the same lady in the reception, same no smiling too Unhappy feeling for my booking, i make booking at 5:15, and i call then at 5:10, say i will be late 5 mins, the reception ask me"are you outside the parking?" So stupid question, if i just in the parking, why i need to call? And i already say will late for 5 mins, then just say ok, when i arrive at 5:20pm, they told me "sorry you late 5 mins, we can't see you, and charge me $30 at 5:22pm, end up i ask so can't see my puppy. They say they are close now, but I website close time is 6pm. Anyway, I live in New Zealand more than 24 years, this is my first time get this happen, i am late my fault, but i pay for the late coming fee, and I am the last booking, and close at 6pm, just ask me to make other booking, waste my time, just like they know i will be late 5mins, just wait for me pay $30 do nothing for me, the reception call Gemma i think, not friendly, no smiling, anyway, i just want post my feeling, not go anymore

They have been great for us - professional - caring - offering practical advice as well as routine care - and when we had to have one of our cats put down - they were so caring and made a hard day much easier. Positive experience: Used to come to this Vet Clinic when I was a kid, for our cats. 11 years later and I'm now using for my dog, Shadow :) Still a great clinic. Recently had a consultation appointment with Sue, who is very knowledgeable and experienced. Made me feel comfortable in knowing my puppy was in experienced hands. Although he is apprehensive around strangers, she was quick when checking him over, which helped reassure him that he was ok. Sue also gave great advice relevant to Shadow's needs. Will definitely be a regular client. Great service :)

Negative experience: Horrified at the cost of my dogs Ear drops. Have purchased the same drops 1/2 the price from another vet clinic in the past. Didn't realise the cost until I got home to read my e-mail (Bill) statement Some advice before agreeing to anything: Ask about the cost of each individual item before they go ahead and administer, Because they sure don't tell you. Learnt my lesson at this vet clinic.

Negative experience: Beware!! Cancellation fee of $30 with no time frame! Website doesnt tell you anything about cancelling. Reminder txt just states that you will incur a late cancellation fee... Receptionist could not give me a time frame of when I should of canceled by to avoid fee.(I gave an 8 hour advance cancellation) How many people have they stung by this absolute lack of informing the customer?? Manager just said its always been like that...Consumer guarantees act states otherwise. I've been going to Swanson Rd Vet for 23 years...you just lost another customer..and going by your feedback, I'm not surprised!
