Fantastic experience: My dog had been coming to this vet clinic since he was a puppy and even though throughout his 14 years of life we've been to multiple vets and clinics but Dr Frederique Hurly is always our first choice. I want to thank Dr Frederique Hurly who always took great care in looking after my boy and never pushed diagnostic tests or treatment that wasn't necessary unlike other vets and clinics I've been to. She listens to the owners concerns and patiently explains her diagnosis and the procedure going forward. The team at Vetcare Glenfield is always friendly and caring. Also a big thanks to Ashleigh who has taken care of my boy for so many years.

Negative experience: My advice: get a second opinion!! This clinic misdiagnosed our cat for "urgent dental procedure" that they then send us a quote for $1,600. Went to a more experienced vet after and they simply removed our cat’s tartar then and there (by hand!) without any issue and stating that her teeth were fine. Also, in that consultation at animates that was initially for a vaccine boost, they casually suggested getting her worm/flea treatment as well, which I said “sure” not knowing the basic worming treatment (that liquid you press on the back of their necks) was gonna cost me as much as the consultation, an extra $80! To recap: it seems the vets are on some KPI/$ targets they need to hit and less on diagnosing your pet accurately.

Negative experience: Shocking service. No appointments available for over a month which is fine. So at the advice of the person I spoke to, I booked in that arvo with another vet who asked for my animals records to be emailed thru. After phoning back, whomever I spoke to at animates vetcare assured me it was no problem and she would forward records on. However, on arrival at the vet I had appointment with they said no email was recieved, making diagnosis all the more difficult, as this particular animal does have a history of health issues. I found this very unprofessional and the total lack of care for my sick animal tells me alot about where animates vetcare's priorities lie. So no, not impressed.

Negative experience: Downright the worst Vet experience I have had in years! And the main reason is the doctor on call - Dr. Jonathan Wong. Throughout the discussion he was unfriendly, rude, and condescending to both my partner and I. Have been loyal to Animates Richmond Road and only had to visit Animates Glenfield for emergency tests. My partner and I had gone for a scheduled appointment for radiology tests to be undertaken for my Labrador. Everything seems to be in order except for the time when we come back to pick her up in the evening. The doctor steps out and begins accusations straight out of the gate for not providing appropriate medication, contrary to the previous vet's recommendation at Animates Richmond Road. When tried to explain that we are doing what we've been told to by previous vets, he tries to go back on his word and starts referring to the dog's kidney problems. After we pointed out, that the dog has no kidney problems whatsoever, he gets argumentative, loud and rude. We ended up walking out with mixed messages due to sheer lack of clear communication. Never taking my pets here ever again!

Negative experience: My friend and I both own a female mini poodle from the same litter. When it’s time to get them spayed, she took her one to Bay Vet whilst I took mine to Animates Vet Glenfield. By the way, both dogs had 4 identical deciduous teeth that needed to be removed. My friends bill: $360 all up. My bill: $925. Bay Vet removed the teeth for free as the dog was already under anesthesia at the time and the vet said, I quote: it’s not a big job anyway! Animates charged me $70 + gst for each teeth they removed. Bay Vet provided my friend with the cone collar for free whilst I had to pay 20+gst for mine. The only thing that was the same between the vets was that they both clipped the dogs nails for free. Yay, what a bonus for me! Hay, if you have got too much money that you simply just want to give away, come to Animates!

Fantastic experience: We visit every weekend to wash our pupper and buy her treats and chewies. Staff are happy and friendly. The instore groomer, Tania, is the best in Auckland. She grooms our cat and our cat loves her. If you have a pet and live on the shore you should check it out.

Negative experience: New rewards scheme is a waste of time. Staff no longer price match for you and seem to have an attitude. Discounts often aren't processed through the til so you have to check every transaction yourself. Pet stock give a 15% discount on food after first purchase and their staff are helpful and will do a price match so seem a better option.

Fantastic experience: Animates is a decent size chain of pet stores and some include vet services. Glenfield is a decent size store with intenal dog washing facilities, $10 per wash or $99 for unlimited washes for 12 months. Staff are friendly and genuinely helpful. Plenty of parking (6 spots onsite and plenty of safe street parking)
