Fantastic experience: We've used Halifax Vet Centre for 16 years. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Vets are always lovely with our animals and happy to answer questions and explain things to our children.

Fantastic experience: The appointment for our cat, was on time, so there was no lengthy waiting with a stressed pet. The vet was thorough in his examination of Max, and took time to examine a blood sample under a microscope, which helped determine a cause for his problem, and prescribe the necessary treatment.

Negative experience: Our cat was brought into Halifax Veterinary Clinic by members of the public after he had been fatally struck by a car. I received a phone call from a member of your staff that was completely lacked basic empathy, I was bluntly informed over a 1 minute phone call that our cat was dead and that we had a few hours to come and collect his body. When we arrived, we were also told a false account of how/when our cat had been brought into your care. We were told by staff that members of the public had taken him home overnight and then brought him into the clinic the following morning. We later discovered this was untrue, our cat had been at the side of the road until approximately 10 am as members of our community posted on our community page to let us know he was there. The attitude of the staff member I spoke to felt careless and dismissive at a time when we were in complete shock, it truly felt like she didn’t care at all. When my partner and I arrived to collect our boy, we were taken into a room to see him. The same staff member I believe I had spoken to on the phone escorted us. We were both extremely distressed and not in a state of mind to think clearly or ask questions. At no point were we offered options such as a paw print, a lock of his fur, or a specialised cremation box - my friend attends this vet and has mentioned that these have always been offered when her pets passed away. The woman barely looked at us, was sitting at the computer and couldn’t have been any less interested. We chose the individual cremation service, and the cremation certificate states that he was cremated on Tuesday the 5th of January. Despite this, we received no communication whatsoever regarding the return of his ashes. We decided to come into the clinic ourselves on Sunday the 11th to ask where he was, as no one had contacted us, and he was handed to us then - so we don’t know how long he was there, and how long he would’ve stayed there if we hadn’t shown up to get him. The lack of empathy, poor communication, misinformation, and overall handling of this situation was like nothing I’ve seen before - with humanity in mind, people aren’t perfect & I hope this staff member was just having an off day, and that this isn’t a regular occurrence, but it was an immensely difficult day for us, and it was made much more difficult by the lack of basic compassion.

Fantastic experience: If you have to go to the vets, then Halifax is just amazing. From the moment you step in you know that your pet is in good hands. The reception staff are extremely competent and knowledgeable. They love the animals and are so good with them. We usually see Kim Green who is amazing but this time it was Todd Halsey. Our Goldie was there for some vaccinations and to have a knee issue checked out. That meant some manipulation of a sore leg and Todd so quickly established a good relationship with Koura and did it so well. It could have been traumatic but it wasn't. He gauged it so carefully. And that's been my experience with Halifax throughout the years (and with different dogs) - even when something could be bad the vets and nurses manage to make it as good as possible. They are always working to make sure the animal isn't scared and is happy to come back to the vet next time there is a need. That combined with such good knowledge, skills and up to date technology is very comforting.

Fantastic experience: Excellent highly recommend. We have not had great experiences with other vets before so we were hesitant to take our dog in for a checkup. We heard off a few people that the Halifax Vet Centre was really good so we gave them a go. We had a great lady who was very calm and explained things to us really well, made the experience stress free and she really cared about our dog which gave us great reassurance. She wasnt trying to push products or things on us like some do or made us feel guilty in any way. This will be our new go to even though we live in Stoke

Fantastic experience: The team at Halifax Veterinary Centre are amazing - excellent care and follow-up. They have helped and cared for all of my cats since 1980, including releasing their spirits to the universe. My current cat is now frisking around, eating well and playing with her toys since her visit last week. I thought she was suffering from anxiety, but Philippa quickly diagnosed pain and the treatment has done wonders to an ageing princess. Many thanks to a great team.

The staff were lovely and welcoming, very helpful and made the whole process stress free in such a stressful time. The vet took care and pride when dealing with my pet. Fantastic experience: Upon recommendation from a friend i took my bulldog x to Halifax veterinary centre. Starting with the website fantastic...easy to navigate with good information. I was behind in time and rang to inform. The reception was wonderful & friendly. Immediately a sense of relief when the delay in arrival was noted and a non issue. No delay when i finally arrived. Dom was the vet and a fantastic quietly confident person with a "no mucking around" approach. Very thorough, good listener and good at delivering the knowledge/answer. A very good manner with my dog unassuming and inoffensive. I booked a senior check for my 11yr old and it is the first vets that have actually stuck to the quoted price, no hidden costs!! The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing you certainly dont feel like you are at the school dentist or a uneducated idiot. And upon an extra (microbial wash) without hesitation offered a more affordable solution. Cant think of a better vets to recommend to pet owners!! Absolutely stoked to have my dog registered with these guys awesome. A+++++++

Fantastic experience: We recently switched to Halifax vets and have been very pleased with them. Dominik has been an wonderful vet! Our dog has had a skin issue for the last two years and the previous vet clinic only offered antihistamines and dog wash shampoo - which did nothing. at our first appointment with Dominik he suggested apoquel which worked pretty quickly and the issues have resolved after two years!!

Fantastic experience: We have an anxious dog Layla, She needed her yearly vaccination. Halifax supplied us with calming medication (they have a wonderful package for anxious dogs). But Layla would not let the kind and gentle vet Dominique get close enough. All the treats on hand did not work. But Dominique found a genius solution and got the mission accomplished. So thankful and relieved for future times. Thank you guys.

Positive experience: The treatment of Boykin was great. However, one slight problem arose. A practice nurse (present for my appointment with Phillipa Bagnall Friday 26,) put the flea/worm treatment almost on Boykins back, rather than behind his head. Consequently he has been licking at it ever since, which upsets his appetite and surely the effectiveness is lost ?

Fantastic experience: Whenever I go there is always a warm greeting at reception, calming treats for the furry ones and a knowledgeable vet at the ready. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and they almost always fit me in when it suits me. The red haired receptionist (apologies for forgetting your name) bends over backwards every time to help and was wonderfully supportive to me in a recent time of loss. The handwritten condolence card with the most wonderful words proved to me they have a genuine interest in you and your pets well being. Dominik tends to be the vet I see most regularly, he is thorough, caring and is happy to explain anything if you want him to. I never feel pressured during consults as I feel time is never an issue. The senior vet Hans is a wealth of information and knowledge and with all the modern diagnostic equipment at the practice you know your beloved friend is in safe 'Hans'...

My dog ripped his dew claw and needed sedation to get it removed, they were able see him straight away and get the procedure done the same afternoon so he wasn't in any pain for longer than needed it also meant he was back home the same day. Everything was explained to me really well and great service from the vet and vet nurses from dropping him off to picking him up. Thank you very much Halifax Vets.
