Negative experience: Booking an appointment for my cat to be spayed was surprisingly difficult. You can’t just do this with the receptionist, they require a nurse to call you to make the appointment. They didn’t call for several days, so I followed up and was told the nurse was unavailable but would call back. I had also explained that a close family member had just passed away, so we might not always be available to answer which the receptionist noted (we had originally called for the spaying before this happened). I missed the first call, tried calling back, and was told the nurse was unavailable. I then missed another call, and when I called again just a couple minutes later, I was told she had already gone home. She eventually left a voicemail that was unprofessional, with an audible sigh and snarky comments about me not answering—this really annoyed me, and made me not want to use their services any further. I understand it’s not entirely their fault, as this is how the company does bookings and we were trying to have this done during a stressful time. However, it could have been handled much better with less attitude. Returning a call shouldn’t be this difficult, and scheduling a spaying should not be so complicated. We ultimately went to a different veterinary clinic, who booked the procedure in one phone call, and everything went smoothly.

I'm typically use to recieving bills in the mail from vets after the fact so originally when we recieved a letter we thought "oh must be an extra bill to pay" but were we wrong. We are so appreciative of the kind words of Franklin vets Papakura. Our hearts are very grateful for the gesture!

The vets are very knowledgeable and genuinely care about the well-being of the animals they treat. It is such a relief knowing the pets are in good hands, and the clinic provides exceptional service.

Fantastic experience: Outstanding service. The team are extremely experienced, knowledgeable and pragmatic in their approach. They are all personable, friendly and importantly - caring. They have overseen the prompt diagnoses of bone cancer in my dog and surgery to amputate the leg. Through the most distressing month of my life they have been the most incredible support and I am so grateful for everything they’ve done and how they go about delivering care to pets (and owners alike!) Cannot recommend this business enough.

Negative experience: Took my boy here for years with reoccurring issues, they treat the symptoms but never treated the cause! Or ever advise what steps to take to determine the cause, kept prescribing the same meds over and over every time.. this place is a money pit! I would not recommend.

Negative experience: I'm extremely disappointed with how my recent experience was handled at this veterinary clinic. I had an emergency with my cat, and when I reached out for help, I was told they wouldn't accept any appointments from me due to a previously overdue balance—a balance I had already paid shortly after it became overdue. What confuses and frustrates me the most is that I was allowed to book and attend an appointment after that overdue balance, and I specifically paid it during that visit because I was told I had to settle it before being seen. Everything seemed resolved at the time. Now, without any prior notice or explanation, I'm being told I can never book with them again—because of the same issue that I thought had been taken care of. I trusted this clinic with my pet’s health and believed we had moved past that situation once the balance was cleared. To be denied care in an emergency, despite having already made things right, is incredibly disappointing and upsetting.

Fantastic experience: Really recommend the VIP package - saved a lot of money getting vet care for my elderly dog. They were really helpful when we found a stray cat. Very easy to make appointments online. Transparent about pricing. We put our dog to sleep there - they were extremely compassionate - refused to have us pay on the day as they said it wasn't as important as us having time to farewell our beloved pet.

Fantastic experience: Franklin vets were professional, kind, and helpful in every way when I turned up with an injured and unhealthy stray cat that moved into my place a year ago. He recovered, fluffed up and was a great cat. A year later and his health had sadly deteriorated to an unrecoverable stage. While losing him was upsetting it was the right thing to do for him. His last year here was certainly a pampered one. This final process was handled with compasion, kindness and the usual total professionalism. The kind thoughts and gestures were so much appreciated. Fantastic experience: Chishiya was rescued from under a house at about four weeks old. His eyes were glued shut from cat flu symptoms. He has received almost all of his care from Franklin Vets in Papakura since he came to me a few weeks befoe Christmas 24. The team has been amazing at treating Chishiya and helping us to navigate options for him when it was determined that he had been left with a prolapsed iris. Chishiya finally had his surgery today for the removal of his eyes, neutering and microchipping and I felt very comfortable leaving Chishiya in the care of the team at Franklin Vets. They took very good care of Chishiya. Thoroughly recommend the team for any and all of your pets needs. Chishiya will most certainly be staying on as a regular with them for all of the other needs he will have in the coming years. Thank you so much for taking such great care of my little fur baby. Not sure why the cat distribution centre saw fit to entrust him to me, but I feel blessed to have him and he means the world to me. Thank you again. Sarah & Chishiya

At the time I was told the vets were in consultations and they'd call me back. Within the hour they'd called me back with all the advice I needed. To take things 1 step further, they even phoned me the following day to follow up on my dog and if the situation had improved. Extremely professional vet and their service is impeccable.

Fantastic experience: I can't thank this vet enough for what they have done for my 8 puppies! 5 days ago, all 8 of my puppies caught Parvo and none of the vets close by could assess the whole 8 and said they would get back to us, which they didn't even call us back. In panic mode, we went to the vets that arent so close to us. We were desperate. We called Franklin Vets and they got back to us within minutes and said they can see us asap!! We felt so relieved! We visited the vet each day and they were so friendly and helpful! Yesterday (which was day 4) was our last visit to the vet. Today, they all are well, back to their energetic self and fought parvo together!! Again, thank you to the ladies so much for helping me! You have lifted the weight off my shoulders and have done a great job at helping my puppies recover!! Truly grateful and will always recommend Franklin vets to everyone!! - Hazel

Fantastic experience: The entire team at Franklin Vets are absolutely amazing and go above and beyond. Recently my girl Luna ate a sock which required urgent surgery to remove from her intestines. Claudia and James (and I’m sure there were others!) stayed back beyond opening hours to perform this surgery for us and take care of her until she could come home. I was well informed and the team updated me along the way. I can’t thank you enough for approaching every situation with such compassion and care, you made a stressful situation so much more manageable for us because we had total confidence and peace of mind that Luna was in the best hands possible. Negative experience: Vets have always been amazing at franklin vets. But the attitude of Teigan at the front desk is very uncalled for and quite nasty. Watch out for her. Also had there nails cut. They have been barely shortened. Very disappointing. Wouldn't go paying $29 for such a little Clip when they needed more. I could have done that at home.

Fantastic experience: Last Friday I had to take my wee bunny Lily back to the vet clinic at Papakura as she was still pretty unwell and we were seen by vet Molly, I would like to say she was wonderful with Lily and myself (was in a bit of a state by the end of our appointment) she took her time with us which I truly do appreciate and went through everything thoroughly and made a plan for the next steps for her treatment. Thank you so much Molly, you really are the kindest most compassion vet and person, you really are a credit to the Franklin Vet team. The vets always have recommendations and options for people like me who do not have pet insurance. They take this into account when possible for the well being of our cats. The vets also look after our sheep and show great skills there too. Highly recommend this practice.

When you might be worried about your pet, the sunny disposition of the staff just gets you feeling better. The team did a great job with my doggo. He needed quite a few teeth removed and they explained every detail and answered all my questions, going through from the initial consult, to the cost estimate, to the day of the procedure. Everyone you speak to is very knowledgable. You can sense that they really do care about your pet as well. I'm very happy with the service from Franklin Vets Papakura.

Positive experience: Very expensive vet clinic. Charge far too much for pills that you can get for 50% or even less online, and when I asked for the prescription to buy the pills online they wanted to charge me $30 to write a prescription

Negative experience: Phoned because I had an injured animal on a Sunday and got told they cannot see my cat because we were out of their catchment area. Funny I thought vets cared about animals but obviously not. Very disappointed.

Negative experience: We recently visited this branch for a second opinion on an abscess that out cat had. We were told that it was inflamed (which we knew) we were also told it NEEDED stitches. I requested a quote and was blown away by the price as it was near 1000 for 2 stitches. Previously we have used the same practice for our horses, for the emergency callout fee, consult and stitches to the horse it cost near half this price. The second I mentioned euthanizing our much loved pet I was told that the stitches were not essential BUT the wound would take months to heal. 1 week in the wound had significantly reduced in size and was no longer inflamed. It has now been 2 weeks and the wound is completely sealed and healing well.

Positive experience: I was very happy with Franklin vet Papakura until today seeing a new vet Michelle. The original re visit appointment was tomorrow to see Victoria for my poor 4 years old cat who has recently discovered cancer in her chest. I rang the reception and change it to today as my cat has very upset tummy for days I worried and wish to see vet asap. I felt the whole consultation she had was reading the summary from the specialist and gather information from me , copying and pasting from the specialist summary and typing information from me. She finally finished her computer work and started checking my cat's breathing and temperature. She didn't even look at the temperature gauge after taking, just put it back to the bench. I didn't know if my cat's temperature was normal or not. She recommended me to feed my cat wet food and bring it back if she vomit. She told me to feed my cat the medicine following the specialist's recommendation. Then consultation was over. When I asked if she could do a quick ultrasound check on my cat like doctor Victoria and the nurse did the last two consultations. She said she has no time to do that as there is another consultation was waiting and tell me to re book to fit my cat in for the probably 3 minutes ultrasound quick checking. I felt I wasted my money going there today. I was very happy with doctor Victoria and Sarah from reception. Was very sad to know my cat has cancer and will die. They made me feel I am not alone and felt support from them in all ways. 5 stars for them two but 1 star for today's experience. Hi the owner, I changed my rate from 1 star to 3 star as I do appreciate all the helps from doctor Victoria and nurses and I will do another review to thank them for it when I feel like to. I have been seeing vets and specialists a lot in the last two years because of my dog. My dog's regular vet was from Pukekohe then change to Papakura, sometimes Karaka. I understand a new vet will take some time to look back the summary. But I also know what is the reasonable time to look the history. For the last consultation we had, overall I felt we were not welcome. She turned up late but wanted finishing the consultation earlier to make her next consultation in time. She was in a rush and wasn't in the mood to give my cat the attention she should be given during the consultation. 3 star is the best I can do and will never back to seeing her again.
