Fantastic experience: Throughly impressed by the service received. Brought my dog in with an eye injury caused by our cat. Kate, the attending vet was so lovely! She was really informative and offered really sound advice and care. Normally I walk away from an after hours vet with a huge bill, but because Kate was practical and didn’t push any unnecessary stuff on us, a couple of hundred for the night to get my little dude’s eye checked out and prescribed some medication was nothing! Abbigal at reception was also warm and welcoming! Thank you again team!

Fantastic experience: The team at the After Hours clinic are amazing. Our kitty Texas was a repeat visitor, as we came in three times over four days. We felt very comfortable and reassured every time we showed up. Even when it was busy, they made time to take him out back upon arrival to check him to make sure he was stable. By the last appointment, Texas ended up being partially blocked and was treated by Leo very quickly and has been happy and healthy ever since (touch wood). Thank you guys so much!

Fantastic experience: Our family would like to say a big thank you to manukau after hours clinic, our dog thor would have died if it wasn't for their quick action and great aftercare. Thank you so much Leo for operating on him, when we took him for his 10day check and stitches removal at our own vet, they commented what a fantastic job was done. He is now sleeping on all of our beds and spoilt rotten, he's like his old self and eating like a horse. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Fantastic experience: Having an emergency in the middle of the night after our dog ran through a closed ranch slider, cutting herself badly, was a rather traumatic experience to say the least. The team were fantastic throughout from initial consult on phone right they way through surgery and discharge. Could not have asked for better! Thank you so much for being there in our time of need.

Positive experience: Overpriced, but then again, it is an after hour vet.

Negative experience: Took my partners cat here in the middle of the night as she was having bad diarrhoea with blood in it, Nurses told us shes perfectly healthy and gave us anti biotics… LATER ON found out 2 days later she has a swollen tummy, parasites and possibly worms?!?! WTH PEOPLE? make me pay $411 for a misdiagnosis and now i have to fork out $500 more to get rid of it PROPERLY!

Fantastic experience: Would definitely recommend them. The vet and nurses are very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately our dog had to be euthanized the day we took him there, because he was not well, but the vet and the nurse were very empathetic and so supportive through out our visit.

Negative experience: Avoid if possible. Visit VSA at Sylvia park instead.

Fantastic experience: Sadly on New Years Day 2026 we had to have our 19 year old Ragdoll Louis euthanised. The staff were kind and considerate. It was a beautiful experience, unlike the one we had a year before when we had to euthanise his brother at another vet. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Lovely vets and vet nurses. Literally saved our cats life at 3am until we could transfer to specialist care.

Negative experience: I would give 0 if I could, I came in with my pup who had parvo and told the receptionist he was in really bad condition. It happened suddenly and so fast i brought him in as soon as I could. He hadn’t eaten the night before or that whole day. They told me the wait time was 2 hours but I was sat in my car waiting for over 4. Nobody came to get us or to check on him the whole time, yet other cars that just pulled in were getting taken in right away. My pup was left vomiting over and over outside waiting for 4+ hours. Im sure the staff forgot we were waiting. I ended up leaving and taking him to another vet and got seen almost right away as they could see his condition was severe. This vet then messaged me the NEXT day to “check up” on him which was useless because they couldn’t even do that when we were there. There also weren’t many dogs in the vet and it didn’t seem too busy from what I could see. There was 1 dog waiting. Do better.

Fantastic experience: Felt compelled to write a review as the staff were so amazing, kind and compassionate! Took my boy in at 7:30pm on a Saturday night after he started sneezing whilst walking. It was extremely busy and I could clearly see every nurse and vet were working as hard and quickly as possible to treat the animals as they arrived to minimise the distress. Aari was seen and had a procedure to remove an obstruction from his nose that measured approximately 10cm. Am so grateful, thank you, thank you, thank you

Negative experience: The care was great when it happened but had to wait nearly 4 hours to get seen even though they said 2-3 hours when we first arrived.

My dog Daisy has unfortunately had to go there three times since 2023 and each time I’ve been met with such great vets they have an incredible team working all around because I have literally seen almost the entire team at this point Every vet and vet nurse has answered all my questions, and I know im not easy to deal with because I get so anxious about my dog I ask them so many things. They are just the best down to helping with the insurance, checking their emails, keeping me updated on my dog every step of the way when she was admitted overnight. I really can’t thank the entire vet team enough, they are all incredible people and know what they are doing and I am glad I can trust them with the life of my dog.

Negative experience: Bunny owners beware. I understand that not every vet is experienced with rabbits, but the person attending to our bunny was unacceptable. Not only did they failed to do basic check such as body temperature, they failed to carry out blood test twice, worse is they overdosed our bunny with morphine by 10 times the amount she is allowed to be prescribed for her weight! That rendered her to not eat or drink due to overdosed! Luckily we are able to take our bunny to our usual vet this morning. She could've been killed due to the incompetence and negligence by the person attending our bunny!

Fantastic experience: We truly appreciated the respect, understanding, and empathy shown to us in a difficult decision. The time had arrived to peacefully let our dear feline go (she had been suffering from a diagnosed illness) - and we were unable to get an immediate appointment with our regular vet. Without knowing us or our pet- these guys understood from the moment we walked in, and trusted our decision. We were provided paw prints as well - this was such a lovely touch. Additionally, the atmosphere at the vet was very calm. Thank you, it meant a lot to us that we could allow our loved feline to depart in a peaceful way.

Fantastic experience: We had to take our cat Flo two times here, on the first visit she was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer which proved to be correct after specialist checked her. We had to take her again last night, Tuesday...vet checked her and consulted and we had to make the difficult decision to help her cross the bridge...everybody was nice and compassionate towards the end...special thanks to the nurse who was there at reception ( sorry forgot her name , her shift was finishing by 10 pm) ...

Negative experience: The experience was highly unsatisfactory. Following a post-operative incident where my dog's stitches failed, resulting in a serious medical situation where her intensines spilled out of the wound, we took her to Manakau after hours veteran where we were provided a quote of $5,000 while charging $170 for an examination that yielded no treatment nor any advice. Furthermore, they recommended additional medication at an extra cost, all of this was told whilst I was holding the intestines of my dog. Fortunately, my dog received prompt and effective care at Western After Hours Vet, where the estimated cost was significantly lower at $1,500. I don't recommend taking your pet to Manukau after hours veterinarian for their unwitting acts that almost took the life of my dog.

Fantastic experience: This is the second time I’ve brought one of my fur babies to this clinic, and again they’ve looked after us so well. The first time was my fur baby Molly (black cat) and this time my furson (dog) Mouse. Both times my babies have come home stitched up, safe and happy. Vets, vet nurses and the admin team carry such a big responsibility, because our fur babies don’t have a voice to say what hurts, where it hurts, or how much it hurts. All we can do is notice the little signs and trust the people who care for them — and I’m so grateful I can trust this team.

Negative experience: If i could, i would give 0 stars. I took my cat in here to get checked. The reception lady was rude, even in her follow up email. She didnt believe a single thing i was concerned about my pet or the events. Said my cat was completely normal and healthy. Now my beloved cat has passed away. Sucks.

Fantastic experience: I took my puppy Maple in on a Sunday night after she became unwell. Beckylea and Sophie were both amazing with her. Maple can be quite shy and gets stressed easily, but the vet and staff were incredibly gentle and patient. Thanks to their calm and gentle care, Maple handled the visit really well and was feeling better within a day. I’m so grateful for how well they looked after her! Thank you again!

Fantastic experience: We recently had occasion to visit Manukau After Hours Veterinary Clinic with our Bulldog "Dozer" who was part of our family for 12 years, unfortunately old age and ongoing health issues were causing him some distress, pain and discomfort. From the time we arrived at the clinic we were approached by very professional competent staff who assisted us in getting our old boy into the surgery. From there the Vet and Nursing Staff were very supportive in diagnosing Dozer's condition and supplied us with information relating to his current condition and the options available. This was delivered in a very compassionate and professional manner. It was decided that the best course of action was to end Dozer's pain and suffering. The process was not rushed and we spent considerable time with Dozer beforehand. Everyone who has ever looked after Pixel has been so kind, informative and compassionate. All the receptionists and vet nurses who triage Pixel always go above and beyond. This recent weeknd Kayla who saw Pixel at reception was amazing and sweet! Steve and Ben who were the vets this weekend for Pixel did such a great job! Your whole team always goes above and beyond! Fantastic experience: Had to go there in an emergency with a very sick, much loved cat. They were the kindest, most sensitive humans I have ever come across. Respectful and gentle. They thought of everything we might need, and made space for the sorrow and pain of what faced us. They followed up after two weeks with the sweetest card. Bear in mind this was a one-off emergency visit. They did not know us at all. I am grateful for their support at that time.

Negative experience: Our dog Aya underwent emergency spay surgery at Manukau After-Hours Veterinary Clinic in November 2024 for a life-threatening pyometra. While the surgery addressed the immediate risk, subsequent complications arose that required months of treatment and a second major operation. Follow-up care revealed that ovarian tissue appeared to have remained post-surgery, resulting in ovarian remnant syndrome and stump pyometra—both painful, medically significant conditions. Ultrasound imaging identified a 2.9 cm ovoid structure near the left ovary site, consisting of large cystic cavities, which our specialist interpreted as retained ovarian tissue. The uterine stump was also found to be abnormally thickened (1.4 cm), suggesting chronic inflammation or infection. To their credit, the clinic agreed to cover the cost of the corrective surgery and some related expenses. However, they declined to refund the original surgery fee. We found this difficult to reconcile given the timeline and outcomes, which medical specialists believe were linked to the initial procedure. We also raised concerns about Aya’s hooded vulva and the lack of a prophylactic gastropexy—commonly recommended for large-breed dogs like German Shepherds during abdominal surgeries. We later learned that the clinic’s website states they do not typically perform routine procedures like spays. Given this, we were surprised a referral to a surgical specialist wasn’t considered, especially in a high-risk emergency context. The specialist who later performed the correction also noted the original incision appeared quite small considering the complexity of the case. We were particularly distressed when the practice manager described the follow-up procedures as ones we had “chosen to add.” For us, this remark minimized the very real pain and complications our dog endured—issues that veterinary professionals have since treated as medically necessary. Altogether, we’ve spent over $11,000 managing complications that arose after the first surgery. While we appreciate the clinic’s partial reimbursement, the overall experience left us with significant concerns around communication, surgical protocols, and follow-up care. Aya deserved better, and we believe it’s important for pet owners to be informed when seeking emergency treatment.

Fantastic experience: We brought our dog to the Manukau After Hours Vet in an emergency and were so grateful for the care he received. The team was thorough, compassionate, and professional throughout. Excellent service and clear communication made a stressful situation much easier. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Awful heartless vet clinic. They could have used their discretion as many other vet clinics do in saving a dog called Captain who had a rescue and people lined up to adopt but instead they sent him directly to the pound without treating his wounds and straight to his death. This vet clinic is breed biased as if this was a poodle they would have chosen differently. Discusting heartless actions by people that clearly are not in this for the animals. This poor dog was euthanised before his 7 day hold was up and the rescue and owner trying to have him released. This awful vet clinic is in league with Manukau council in euthanasia of certain breeds. Part of the target practice that they are doing.

Negative experience: A dog was rescued from abuse and being a stray on the streets, by people willing to love and care for him and give the dog a home. He was taken in for a checkup to this vets AND THEY CALLED THE POUND - never got the dog back, now it may be euthanised. NO CONSENT WAS GIVEN, no form was filled out, they just TOOK THE DOG. It is not ok, where is your compassion? THE DOG HAS BEEN EUTHANISED!!! SHAME ON YOU

Fantastic experience: I had to make the gut wrenching choice to put my sweet boy of 14 years to sleep this Easter. They gave me all time I needed to say goodbye to him without rushing me. Thank you so much to the Team Of After Hours Vets Manukau. Also a big thank you as a week later I received a hand written letter and paw/nose prints. This gesture is so kind and completely unexpected but it ment the absolute world to me.

Negative experience: Sending a dog to the pound, how do you call yourself caring or animal lovers? You have no heart and no soul. That dog had a rescue and people lined up to foster/adopt him and give him a chance. You only needed to check him over not send him to his death. Cruel people, hope people stay well clear. Sharing this all over Facebook and instragram. Do not support them, they only want your money they don’t care about your fur babies.

Fantastic experience: Took our 17 yr old dog, Sandy, in on Easter Sunday as she had a seizure. Sadly, it was clear that it was time for her to go to her rest. Dr Steve Oehley was so gentle and kind as was Kayla and there were other nurses working hard in the background. Sandy calmly went to sleep surrounded with love and respect. A busy day yet we did not feel rushed and were given the time we needed to say proper goodbye. Their relationship with Truly Treasured Pet Loss and cremation services means there has been seamless continuity of care. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and are truly grateful for their love and care

Fantastic experience: Did an amazing job at looking after my dogs we’re very quick to aid them and gave me clear instructions on their care for the rest of that night. Vet Lily was amazing and very reassuring to help calm down my anxiety, she was very clear with what was happening and checked in on me and the dogs even after we had left back home.

Although there were options available, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let our beloved Wiggle go, knowing she wouldn’t withstand the recovery. It was an incredibly difficult moment for our family, but Dr. Matt and the entire team were nothing short of amazing. From the very first point of contact, their warmth, empathy, and professionalism shone through. They didn’t just treat Wiggle with care—they treated us with genuine kindness and understanding. They explained everything clearly, gave us the space and time we needed, and never made us feel rushed or like just another appointment. which helped ease the immense guilt and sadness we felt. Even in the hardest of times, they created a peaceful and comforting environment, allowing us to say our final goodbyes with love and dignity. Their compassion extended beyond the clinic, making an unbearable experience just that little bit more bearable. Losing a pet is losing a member of the family, and we are forever grateful to Dr. Matt and the team for the way they cared for both Wiggle and us. Fantastic experience: Before and after I’ve visited this after hour emergency vet clinic, I have researched this clinic and the surrounding vets, that were open on Sunday. My 1 year old kitten had an injury, was limping and needed to be seen after another vet could not diagnose her properly and did not provide appropriate treatment. Sunday morning, I called 3 vet clinics and got denied at every single one, as my kitten was not a registered patient. Though, I was referred to an after hours clinics in the area. One google search and amazing reviews away, I called the Manukau After Hours Vet Clinic. I was immediately kindly greeted on the phone and after a quick blurb about the condition of my kitty, the lovely girl at the reception said that she sure must be seen and better to come sooner rather than later, with a pricey (but for the weekend reasonable) consultation fee of $200+GST. I waited approximately 1.5 hours, saw the receptionists compassion with other pets owners, had a yarn with other patients owners and the time flew by. It almost felt like an actual hospital seeing urgent incoming pets taking priority, so I was of course not mad waiting a little longer. Amazingly, Dr. Kevin saw us, listened, gave us options and sent us home with the appropriate medication and other tips in our benefit. He was super compassionate, kind and light hearted. My kitten was like new the next day! From what I’ve seen, this clinic has an amazing, experienced and compassionate team. Thanks again. I’ll for sure put you guys on my speed dial - just in case ❤️

Fantastic experience: The team did a really good job at taking our Taika in after he cut his paw badly during one of our walks. We were seen within 30-40mins by the vet (not long at all). but while waiting the nurses and reception made sure he had water and updated us on how far the vet was. When we were seen by the vet, he was clear and concise about the treatment and made sure to tell us all options (both good and bad) that were available. When we left him at the vet for his procedure, they also updated us when they were done and how our dog was doing. It’s been over 2months now and Taika’s paw has healed really well and our usual vet in ormiston also commended the Job that the emergency vet did and reassured us that they did a really good job and that they were happy with how the stitches were put in. Thank you so much (apologies we can’t remember the name of the vet or nurses that were on that day)

Fantastic experience: Not how you plan to start a new year.. the Amazing team are so caring & compassionate took our family dog “Dodger” to be euthanised last night the team had cut a love heart ❤️ shape on the bandages covering the lure and gave time to say goodbye … his passing was peaceful. They took ink paw prints that my teenagers will treasure lovingly wrapped him in a blanket and placed a rose with him.. He has now gone back to the earth and a remembrance tree planted in his honour. thank you, much appreciated.

Fantastic experience: Made an emergency call at 22.00 on Boxing Day, to have our cat put down. They accepted us right away, and told us about the procedure. Very caring and looked after in my time of sadness. Special thanks to Bree and the reception lady for both going the "extra mile".

Fantastic experience: I cannot praise Manukau After Hours team highly enough. We ended up having to make that dreaded choice to say goodbye to our sweet girl and the care and empathy shown by the team was truly appreciated. We had a good conversation with the vet, I felt well informed... we were not rushed and were given the time we needed to say goodbye. It was, of course, a really hard visit... I'd like to say a special thank you to vet nurse Lily who took the time to capture paw prints for us and they arrived yesterday. Oh, my heart. ❤️ ‍⬛️ Thank you so, so much, I will love them forever. I'm actually using them as my screen saver.

Fantastic experience: We had to rush our boy in after he ran in front of a dirt bike. All the staff were professional and caring during this stressful time. He came home smelling of perfume which was great to know he was getting lots of cuddles and love during the night. A big thank you to you all for the wonderful care Ollie received.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to Katie for a great job. Very thorough and diagnosed my boy swiftly. Gave a detailed report and showed empathy toward both pet and owner. We took him home to potentially say goodbye but in the safety and security of home he got his strength and energy back and walked on his own. It was a relief to see him sleep in peace again. 24 hours later he is around 90% his usual self and had a bowel movement. Happiest I've been for him to poop

Negative experience: My Disappointing Experience at Manukau After Hours Veterinary Clinic I specifically visited to check my Golden Retriever, Miley, to confirm her pregnancy status and to ensure the puppies were healthy, as she was nearing her due date. After waiting for more than two hours, I was shocked to learn that the clinic did not have the necessary imaging equipment to check the puppies, yet they charged me $190 for a "consultation" that provided none of the services I needed. I felt the service was unprofessional, I was ignored in the waiting room for an hour and 10 minutes without any attention, then taken to the clinic room inside and my dog's temperature was taken and then in the room for another half hour. I was offered an ultrasound for $103 to confirm the pregnancy. However, this was not the main reason for my visit. I came to check the condition, number of puppies, and due date, not just to confirm the pregnancy. I felt deceived and overcharged.

Fantastic experience: Visited them this evening after work with my unwell Cat. He hadn't eaten since last night. Excellent quality service. Cat initially scared and sore, left feeling much better. Cat is now drinking and had some food, he's walking around with less pain. Highly recommend this vet service. Didn't mind paying for his treatment this evening. Will claim on pet insurance. Thank you team for an awesome job and quality of care given.. Will definitely be back again when we need help.

Fantastic experience: Very caring environment for my dog. Service is a tad slow to get information across to our normal vet but I was very happy with then caring for my baby. On one note, it's very expensive but we had to get it done in order for our baby to not be in pain

Fantastic experience: I had to take my nearly 20 year old childhood cat to be put to sleep a couple of weeks ago and I receive the most incredible care from the team there! Absolutely amazing staff who made the process so much easier for me as I was already extremely upset. Thank you so much - really appreciate the incredible care and also for the immediate ink paw prints - totally unexpected but meant the world! Such a nice surprise to take home with me as I left without her! From the bottom of my heart thank you! You are a kind and caring bunch ❤️

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful for Dr Jonathan Liu, and the entire team at manukau after hours veterinary clinic! The absolute best honestly I would just want them to be the ones to tc of my Freya. In an emergency situation they were so kind and reassuring and gave my baby the best care . She was so comfortable with them and I cannot recommend this place enough!! 100/10 rating honestly. My beautiful girl is back to her normal self! Thank you so much guys.

Fantastic experience: Cannot thank or recommend MAHVC enough for their care and dedication to our dog after she was hit by a car late Saturday night. They were extremely thorough in their examinations and tests, and kept us well up to date with her status and next steps. So grateful that Molly is now home and recovering well thanks to their incredible service.

Fantastic experience: We brought in our dalmatian Thursday night who was struggling after a cystotomy on Wednesday. We were exhausted & stressed because we had all barely slept and he wasn't eating or laying down. They happily took him overnight for us, and he went to his usual vets during the day for more monitoring & IVs. After a full night's rest & some delicious boiled chicken he is miles better than he was thanks to the care & kindness of the team. There was an understandable wait and cost involved, but this was expected. The whole team was very gracious and gave us so much comfort and relief. Thank you! Spencer is so much happier!
