Fantastic experience: Took an injured wax eye into the clinic and they looked at it immediately, and treated it. Was able to take the bird home to release it. Lovely, kind staff, and very efficient. Would highly recommend the Animal and Bird Hospital!

Negative experience: Was disappointed to drive across town as I heard this vet did a free service for wild birds. Our bird had fallen due to it hitting the house and injuring its wing. Wasn't able to fly far without landing in our stream or the ground. Handled it safely in the box to get its wing looked at. Nice service having the staff member come out to take our bird off my hands but they opened the box carelessly letting it fly off and plummet behind the vets. Pretty upsetting and no effort made to apologise. If I knew this I would have hung onto our bird to look after it.

Fantastic experience: These wonderful people saved my cats life, she had kidney failure due to a condition we had no idea she had. These people are amazing, tentative and caring, I would never take my girl anywhere else. Thank you Animal and Bird Hospital, everyday I look at her wee face I am so grateful she’s healthy and still with me …because of you.

Fantastic experience: Amazing people reasonably priced, felt like they cared about our cat and her comfort. Our cat had an eye removed and they help make sure that she was well taken care of and comfortable the whole way though.

Negative experience: i will not be bringing any of my pets back to this place., I got told almost the same as the review from "jane doe". My cat, that morning, was walking to me, eating but was losing use in her back legs. The one vet behind the scenes spoke to another male vet who came and said to me how sick she was (Id been taking her to vets, and id been keeping an eye on her eating and toileting}. They made me feel like i was abusing her where in fact i was bending over backwards buying her stuff to help her. They said her temp was low {it was chch worse winter, i had her in front of a heater at night but when she went to bed, she was in the conservatory in a cat igloo on top of thick blankets} Anyway, they wanted to keep her for two hours. When i picked her up, there was nothing in her eyes. I had to grab her out of the carry case and put her in her igloo where she didnt move and kept her eyes open. I was threatened that i had to bring her back in two days or ill get reported. My bella died in my arms totally oblivious, almost unconscience. I think they gave her too much injections for her body and overdosed her. They wont admit it of course but needless to say i wont be returning

Negative experience: Went in for appointment dog was sick didn’t know what was wrong with him told at appointment he has brain tumour and needs to be put down right now they said it would be selfish if I didn’t put him down right away I said no I need some time they said how about next day and I need to put his needs before mine.he only had a blood test and eye test done no ct or X-ray. He showed improvement over the next day or two so got a second option it was completely different to what they said didn’t even suggest puting him down it’s been over 4 months now and he is doing great and completely normal Be aware and get a second option before putting down your loved one UPDATE_ it’s now been a year since he went into this vets and he is completely normal no brain tumour he is completely fine!

Fantastic experience: Took a friend here yesterday with Kayla the pup. Prior to going had emailed for information on immunisations. Prompt friendly response from staff. Phoned to book and staff friendly and happy to help. Great staff and very reasonably priced. Visit calm and friendly wait, vet gentle with pup, picked up heart murmur explained it well. Good checkup, information on behaviour management. Suggested puppy schools and trainer. When to worm etc. Loved the backpack/front pack idea for walking around Mitre10 and getting her used to all sorts of people and noises. Great reminders about not putting pup on the ground where unvaccinated dogs Iggy have been, due to high rates of parvovirus in Chch at moment. I’m going back here to get our girl backup to date health wise. Thankyou

Fantastic experience: Called On Friday morning as we are over from the West Coast. Lovely receptionist who booked us in later that day. Saw the the lovely vet Debbie who treated me little dog. Explained everything clearly, was thorough and kind and compassionate. Absolutely top notch service and have decided we will make the travel over for care from here for my wee Millie. Such a calm environment. Absolutely outstanding and thank you so much Debbie.

Fantastic experience: They were very good for us last Sat when our poor Choc Labrador had to be put down due to old age & extreme pain. The vet was very curtious & understanding, & explained everything she was doing clearly. When I rang them at 1pm on Sat they promptly booked us in for the last appointment at 2.45pm, before they closed. They've been really good vets over the years & I would most certainly recommend them to anyone. They're reasonably priced too. Thank you for all your help Animal & Bird Hospital.

Fantastic experience: Today (11/03/2024) was a tough day as I took my gorgeous girl dog Ruby 13 years and 3 months to Animal and Bird Hospital to cross over the rainbow bridge. The staff especially Anne was extra caring, compassionate, gentle and understanding towards us during this difficult process including Julie who we saw in January. Ruby has been coming here since she was 7 weeks old as well as our other boy dog and we have always encountered lovely staff.

Fantastic experience: Very highly recommended ill definitely be taking my pets back here. Thank you to the vet and staff for being so thoughtful . Not a lot of parking but it's wheelchair accessible

Fantastic experience: A shag was in residence at my lawn bowls club on the green or hiding in a hedge for over 36 hrs. It had no food & was somewhat in the way; in danger of dog attack. A&B Hosp gave me good, free advice about how to proceed, what to feed it (if necessary), under which circs. it needed vet attention. This advice gave me confidence to capture the bird, transport it by car to nearby seashore & release it successfully. Happy with that!

A back up txt this morning hoping my dog is ok from her surgery yesterday is so caring. I had moved my small dog to AABH from North Canterbury and the service they offered is nothing compared to theses guys.

This place also takes on injured wild birds etc and try to help them before releasing the back to the wild.

Fantastic experience: Yet again, I cannot fault the services provided by these vets. We were cared for with empathy and much consideration (given my dog didn't treat our vet very well last time!). Quick service, helpful receptionist, I am very grateful for our dog's vet. I would highly recommend them.

Negative experience: Unfortunately i didnt have the best experience receptionist was rude and when it come to my girl being euthanasied it happened all to quick, then we were rushed out like we didn't matter. I received more empathy from the cremation place than the vets. In such a terrible time would of thought they would have put my animal first not go between her and a bird..

Fantastic experience: Wonderful vets, very lovely staff, the lady who treated our dog upon both visits, was so kind, explains everything in detail about her medication, foods etc. gave us information pamphlets to help understanding our dogs needs as well as being very patient and calm with our girl who can be nervous with new people and surroundings. Everyone there is always so lovely and helpful.
