Fantastic experience: I was so worried about taking the cat to the vet and so was pleasantly surprised to see how well the vet calmed the cat. The vet Shanaka made friends with him straight away with some treats and pats and before long our cat was happily sitting on the table purring. The cat had an unusual swelling under his front armpit. Not wanting to do any un-necessary invasive treatment in that delicate area of the body, the vet advised antibiotics and to wait and see approach. That evening after the vet visit the swelling burst and the abscess drained, which is what the vet was expecting and hoping for. The cat is now perfectly fine. I am very happy with the decision that he made.

Fantastic experience: Finally found our favourite veterinarian! Maria Dunbar is fantastic. It was without hesitation we travelled across town in 9am traffic to have her attend to our dog's ears. He's a nervous patient to say the least but Maria's calm, careful approach had him still and she managed to get swabs and medication into his ears...no mean feat as he would sprint at the sight of so much as a bottle and wipes. She previously correctly diagnosed our old girl with Cushing's disease in the first visit, when we had seen at least 4 other vets who only offered band aid solutions to her several symptoms. Honestly cannot recommend enough. Thank you Maria and Pet Doctors

Fantastic experience: I want to sincerely thank the staff at Pet Doctors Hillcrest for helping me find my little cat. As an international student, I had been visited often by what might be a stray cat. When I noticed he was injured—missing two toenails likely from a cat fight—I brought him here for a check-up and treatment, including an antibiotic injection. Unfortunately, on our way home, he got scared and ran under the building. Despite the terrible weather, 3 staff members went out of their way to help look for him. After a full day and night of effort, we finally managed to safely trap and recover him—it truly felt like a miracle. I’m deeply grateful for their kindness, patience, and support during a stressful time. Thank you again for caring not just for animals, but also for their humans.

Fantastic experience: That are amazing people. Maria Dunbar is an astounding vet but even a nicer person. The nurses and receptionist are kind and helpful. I have been taking my pets there the last 2 years and even in the most difficult time when my cat died, they were very supportive with us.

Positive experience: I went there with my son yesterday morning, and on the way back home, he was telling his partner he was very impressed with the clinic and staff there. He said he'll definitely make the vet practice there, his first choice. I thought it was very chilled out, passive and relaxing..and we both thought the vet had a great positive calm manner, even the dog was chilled out and relaxed. The dog lived here nearly 2 years, why we both went. and if you're calm the animals will be too, so with the calm friendly manner of the vet..the dog was in very good hands. We liked it and appealed because it was in a quiet part of Hamilton, with less coming and going too, as opposed to busier parts of the city, so keep up the good work because he'll be back, when the need is there.✔️✔️✔️Big Ticks for you.

Fantastic experience: We (us humans and our kitties) had such a pleasant experience for our first visit to Pet Doctors Hillcrest. Our mama cat and three kittens felt like welcomed little celebrities and given we are new cat parents, it was nice to have such a positive experience! The team was absolutely lovely and I was surprised by how at ease the cats were in the space. Mama cat particularly liked the nice view from the window (see photo). We are stoked to have a great vet so local to us!

Fantastic experience: Argo loves going to the team at Pet Doctors Hillcrest when he needs care - he is very mischievous and they understand the challenges this brings - chewing toys and furniture to destruction given any opportunity - a born chewer. He is treated superbly by the vets, nurses, and technicians. We trust that they have his care and good health at the fore when he's got appointments, or is in for observation.

Fantastic experience: A great vet clinic with skilled staff, easy parking. And the waiting room layout is designed so cats and dogs can be on separate sides with a visual barrier in between, and don't have to look at each other!

Negative experience: I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received from Emma the receptionist over the phone. My pet was hesitant to get into her carrier for her vaccination, which is required for her stay in a cattery while we are flying overseas. As a courtesy, 10 mins before the appointment, I called to explain the situation. I also hope to work out a solution if the appointment could be hold back a little bit or rescheduled. However, the receptionist was extremely rude, blunt and impatient. She seems to hate her job dealing with phone calls everyday, repeatedly responding, "So are you are not coming?", "So you are not coming then?, “so what do you want me to do? This unhelpful and discourteous behavior. She makes me feel like ‘we don’t need you, we still have plenty of customer’. At the end, I cancel our appointment and went to Vetcare Hamilton South angrily. Its not about they are unable to squeeze my dog appointment in, its about her attitude. The doctors are kind and polite. i will definitely come back to Pet Doctor Hillcrest again so that I can engage with Emma face to face.

Fantastic experience: Pet Doctors were amazing today. We took our cat in with a corneal ulcer and they were so thorough and found he was having gum issues as well that we hadn’t noticed. While we were sad that we had missed our baby’s issues, they didn’t make us feel judged at any point and were so informative and upfront about everything. They were amazing with him as well! We will be taking him here for all future appointments if they’ll have us ❤️

Negative experience: Rang for my dog injection but vet nurse said my dog is not due for it yet. She is not even know what she is talking told her went to tristram st. brance for last two weeks and if i go to get it now. She said we need to gave them 24 hours notice so I told her that is not what the vet told me and we did not have a promblem for the last two weeks at tristram st. It is not what she said but is the way she said even when we went there she was not very nice and look grumpy. Their previous staff was much better. When we went home and found out that she did not administated the injection properly my partner have to go back for another dose. Such a bad experience for a staff who did not know what she doing. We will go somewherelse now.

Fantastic experience: Saw us immediately because our dog was so unwell. Honest diagnosis. Gave options and recommendations. Very sensitive, kind and respectful when we had to make a difficult decision for our wee girl. Gave us time and our sweetie went with love and dignity.

Negative experience: Not my kind of place- very much a business. I experienced a lack of transparency and information about prices. They suggested I buy into their insurance.

Negative experience: 50/50 here. Can be pushy with their exhorbitant product prices and sometimes unnecessary add ons. I source my flea and worm products, Hills Science and Royal Canin online which is ALWAYS cheaper. Customer service is a hit and miss here, was berated in a public space by the vet for being "late" even though at times I have been made to wait for longer than 20 minutes at times. Some of the nurses are nice, but there does seem to be a strange cold atmosphere here at times where some of the nurses could benefit from customer service training

Fantastic experience: Melissa has been seeing my two cats lately. She’s been super amazing with my two babies who have been having issues lately. So patient, kind and goes full out with diagnostics to get to the bottom of the problem. Awesome vet!! Totally recommend her if anyone is looking for a new vet! Great vets are an essential when you have special needs fur kids that’s for sure!

Negative experience: I note that, in the appointment confirmation text that I was sent, there was a fee of $40 if I was a no show. How much do I get to charge if the vet is a no show and nobody bothers to let me know? First I was told I was in the wrong place at the wrong time (I wasn't) and when this was shown to be incorrect, I was told that somebody had tried to text and call (they hadn't) and then when this was shown to also be incorrect, the truth came out that the vet was off that day. That is fair enough but somebody should have let me know so as to not waste my time which is just as valuable to me. I had rearranged two meetings to make that appointment.
