Fantastic experience: The cattery is excellent. Each cat has it’s own cage which is high enough ( approx 1.5m) for a mezzanine floor and a ladder to reach it. They love sitting up there and some cages have windows that they can look out towards Te Rapa straight. You can bring their favourite furniture ( scratching post or bed etc). Each day their cage is cleaned and they are able to walk around in a safe area while this is done. Tessa looks after the cattery and does an amazing job getting to know your cat. Tessa looked after my cat for 7 weeks last year and 12 days this year and Cindy remembers her like a best friend. Tessa even sends me videos of her progress.

Fantastic experience: Took my Rottweiler to these guys, fantastic vet and service. Will continue to come here. They spoilt my dog wrotten.

Negative experience: Very disappointing experience. The service was not friendly or welcoming. We asked three separate times (before booking and again before and after the appointment) whether the visit would be covered by Best for Pets, and were assured each time that it would be and could be claimed back. Afterward, when we trid to claim Best for Pets confirmed this clinic is not partnered and the visit was not covered. Being given incorrect information multiple times is frustrating and misleading. We won’t be returning.

Fantastic experience: The great care taken by staff to ensure my beloved furbaby Aroha was well cared for when she was spayed. Friendly atmosphere meticulous service provided. Fantastic experience: We've been in for 2 visits as of recently. Our beloved family dog Ruby had to be put down. All staff showed the upmost respect and compassion which really meant a lot at this sad and testing time. More recently our other dog, Frank had to.go in for some vaccinations and a general check over. Once again, all staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Super friendly to both our 4 legged friend and us humans alike! Would rate them to anyone looking for veterinary services in the area.

Fantastic experience: All staff from reception to nurses to the vet were professional, friendly and caring. Kept us fully informed of our dog’s treatment and progress throughout the day and into the evening. Fully explained what they were doing, recommended tests and gained permission before giving extra meds and tests. Rang early the next morning to let us know how our dog went overnight. Detailed advice to follow at discharge. We felt very safe throughout.

Fantastic experience: Once again, I have felt the need to write a review to show my extreme appreciation. I rung today panicked about Simbas ear infection & stressing about a few other things that were going on & I spoke with Tessa Slater on the phone who straight away got on to speaking with Simbas Doctor Henri - Henri gave advise straight away to Tessa who phoned me back straight away & talked me through this. I was also able to talk with Tessa in regards to concerns I was having as well & she was amazing telling me her own experiences & reassuring me that kittys sometimes do certain things & even lending me advice which she had felt helped with her fur baby. I honestly cannot express my gratitude for the team here, they are all so amazing & helpful & understanding to my own fur baby mother craziness (which I indeed have). Thank you so much guys, I really do appreciate your efforts & support! <3

Fantastic experience: It was our first visit at this vet & i couldn’t be happier everyone was so friendly & caring towards Simba & myself i even arrived earlier & they managed to squeeze us in with another vet (Henri Mostert) he was amazing, extremely caring & gentle with Simba, even showing me how to give her the medicine she needed! I will also say the pricing is very good! A lot of other vets it’s cost me way more then what i paid, thank you Dr Henri Mostert & the lovely team & Small Animal Veterinary Centre. Fantastic experience: I am always happy with the service we receive at Hamilton Small Animal Veterinary Centre. This has ranged from vaccinations to treating multiple wounds and (currently) investigating a growth. Dr. Mostert is knowledgeable, communicative and empathetic, My dog loves going to the vets for the treats and the kindness shown to him by the staff - in that order. He suggests more treats :-)

Fantastic experience: This is the best vet in all of Hamilton! We have our Cocker Spaniels', Winnie and Rue, at this practice and we have received the best service in every visit. I am super impressed with their repsonse time as my husband called early in the morning about Winnie. They were fully booked but managed to see him which we are super grateful for. We have also had our chinchilla's go through this practice and the care and knowledge they show about exotic animals is exceptional. Our dog was badly injured, and in a moment of panic, we went straight to our regular vet — the one we've trusted for the past five years. Unfortunately, due to staff issues, they were unable to help us. Standing in their parking lot, desperate for assistance, we searched online and found Hamilton Small Animal Veterinary Centre. Even though they were fully booked, the incredibly kind and professional receptionist immediately offered help as soon as she heard how serious our dog's condition was. Fantastic experience: Great friendly, professional service. Have been using this clinic for over 15 years. Many a precious kitty cat and the odd bunny rabbit and dog has been seen by the vets and nurses here for various reasons.

Negative experience: Loved the reception and technicians...the vet (Henri) doesn't ever seem to be interested that much. We've had him euthanize our cat in front of the family, including 2 very young boys, who were all very upset, for him to eventually appear to be fed up with the 2 minutes mourning and to then grab the lifeless, floppy carcass and take it away. Another time we had to put our beloved dog to sleep. THAT was awful! We were saying our goodbyes and, supposedly, not to be interrupted, only to have people barging in on 2 separate occasion...at the very time he had slipped away.Loved the reception and technicians...the vet (Henri) doesn't ever seem to be interested that much. We have been struggling for months and have been to different clinics, but nobody could sort out Toby's condition. Then we were referred to Dr Henri! Happy to say Toby is healthy again ❤️

Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely vets. Had to go to them for an emergency for my doggo and they understood the urgency and took him straight away. Were able to give me a very vague estimate for the day (best and worse case scenario so had a large variation there). They gave me a plan within minutes of being there. They kept me well informed with several phone calls through the day which is absolutely above and beyond and even though they were busy took the time with me and didn't ever make us feel like a burden or rush us off. Even let us come see our dog before they closed because he had to stay over night for surgery the next day. (they offered I didn't have to ask which was even a better touch) Everyone I talked to was attentive and had my dog and my best interest at heart. If I could give more stars I would.

Negative experience: What an absolute joke of a clinic. Prepared to be used as a cash cow and then thrown to the curb once you've paid them. They do not care for the welfare of your furbaby whatsoever but they're amazing at pretending they do so 1 star for that. They (mostly Ian, the surgeon) will give you all the time in the world before you pay them a big sum of money for a surgery but as soon as there are complications and you want to follow up on the services you paid for being abysmal, they'll tell you that you have to pay for an additional appointment to discuss what you paid for not actually living up to expectations and actually leaving your pet in a worse state than before. I paid over 8k for a leg surgery on my dog being told that it was that or a brace for the rest of her life, they showed so much care until the funds cleared from my account. The last thing they said was that my dog has to live in a horrible brace for the rest of her life which causes her wounds. The brace company also mentioned the brace is not made for the use the surgeon reccomended but VRS simply does not care and wanted to bandaid the fact that the money I paid for their services was all for nothing. If you care for your pet, take the extra time to head to Auckland to find an actual clinic who won't do the same to you. I wish I had

Positive experience: The staff from reception to the vets were all very friendly, kind & approachable. I have recommended this particular vet to my family members because of how great they were, when I had my two female cats neutered, after a few day's of being at home, I received a phone call to check in & see how they were doing, truly surprised & grateful for their aftercare service. Fantastic experience: Amazing service, I’ve been in 2 times for my kitten’s vax and they always do basic checkup to see if she was doing alright. My fur baby got a free toy on her first visit. Happy with their service and now I’ll be dropping my 2 babies off to their catering in Dec-Jan, I trust them keeping my babies safe .

Negative experience: I came in today to have my dog’s paw looked at with concerns about a slight cut. The vet looked at it for literally one glance then wrote up a script for 7 days worth of antibiotics and then walked out . Just wondering how the best part of two minutes work has now costed me $170.00 . day light robbery at its finest, it is not right. No wonder so many pets get neglected with absurd prices like that. Absolutely taking advantage of everyday people who are already struggling with the rise of inflation and cost of living. You guys should really do better.

Negative experience: I had a very distressing experience on Friday when I took my old cat in to be euthanized. I wasn't asked if I would like him to be sedated first, and he took awhile to pass away, he snorted a couple of times and had his tongue hanging out. It was the first time I have had to euthanize a pet and I was very upset to see he suffered in his last moments of life. I also asked if I could have a box to take him home in and was offered one that he wouldn't have fit in.

Positive experience: Awesome place, staff are great. The vet was very good with explaining things, but unfortunately, payments were not flexible as I couldn't afford to pay $6,000-$6,800 up front my options are now not good for my boy. Still recommend this place highly.

The diagnosis was prompt and explained clearly. We were given treatment options. Our cat seemed happier as soon as we got her home and the course of antibiotics has quickly returned her to her old self again. Negative experience: Feeling pretty disappointed with my experience recently. We had used Hamilton small vets for my families childhood cat when she passed away to have her cremated and we received some paw prints which has been a treasured keepsake which has been framed with a photo of her ever since. More recently I had my much loved cat pass away after being hit by a car. Took her to Hamilton small vets to be cremated after the last positive experience in a hard time. When I was handing her over they mentioned they would also get some paw prints taken for her. Something I looked forward to in an upsetting time. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When picking up my fur baby there was an envelope, inside was a poem and death certificate however no paw prints. I followed up roughly 10 minutes after picking her up, and they said they would follow up with the nurse who had supposedly taken the prints. I had a call 4 days later where they said they would check video footage on the following business day to see where the prints were as the nurse apparently had taken the print. It has now been a full week since that phone call and I have heard nothing. I feel like the prints were never done and wishing this hadn’t of been stated to me when dropping my baby off as I was holding on to the idea I would have them and be able to treasure them like with my childhood cat. Update: Following this post I received a phone call (4 days after the video footage was reviewed) that they discovered when watching the footage the prints were never taken. Do not go here for end of life care for your pet, my poor baby must’ve just been sent straight off site after handing her over.
