Fantastic experience: Dr. Andrew Worth is simply outstanding. This was the second MPL surgery he performed on our dog, Saint, and we travelled all the way from Auckland’s North Shore because there is no one else we would trust. We truly can’t speak highly enough of his professionalism, expertise, and genuine care. Dr. Worth is, without doubt, one of the very best veterinary surgeons in the country. His skill is exceptional, he’s a true wizard. Just as impressive is the post operative care from him and his team. No matter how busy they are, they always take the time to respond to our questions at the earliest opportunity, providing reassurance and support throughout the recovery process. That level of professionalism and dedication is rare to find these days. Thank you, Dr. Worth and the entire team, for giving Saint a new lease on life. We are incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done. Highly, highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I took Larry in earlier this week with what was believed to be a hemipenal prolapse. Dr Tori did an amazing job looking after him, and Larry was promptly discharged the next day. I highly recommend Massey Vets / Wildbase for reptiles. Dr Tori was extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his work—he even went out of his way to let me pick Larry up after hours by driving from his house to let me in. Exceptional care and service.

Fantastic experience: We drove all the way from Auckland twice for Professor Andrew Worth to do hip replacements on Georgie. He is an excellent surgeon and the only surgeon in the North Island to do hip replacements on small dogs. It changes Georgie's life from a life of degenerative pain to a happy life.

Fantastic experience: When my 9 month old Huntaway needed surgery, I realised Massey wouldn't be cheap, but surprisingly it wasn't as expensive as I thought and I discovered they are the best, great people, great support and great result.

Fantastic experience: Brought my dog here very late on a Friday night (19/9/25). We knew this may be the end road for our boy. The staff were pleasant to deal with. It was explained to us that our boy had been sedated for pain and they would be back shortly. They took quite a long time to come back, it was then I realized maybe they are allowing us time with our boy because this is the end. They arrived back and I had this conversation with them, they then explained to us they were avoiding having that talk because they know it is a difficult conversation to have. We all came to an agreement that euthanasia would be the best choice. I am giving a five star review for bravery for those two staff members. I've worked in a similar field, it gets easier with time. ❤️

Fantastic experience: I have just had my Cavoodle, 'Toffee' to Massey Vets for speying and I can't thank them enough for the wonderful service I received.. George was our student vet and he couldn't have provided a better experience if his life depended on it! He was just lovely with Toffee and rang me on a number of occasions to keep me updated on her progress. I can't say Toffee enjoyed the experience but as far as I'm concerned it couldn't have been better.. thanks George and I wish you all the very best for your new job next year. Thanks too to Tom, the Vet, who supervised George with the procedure.. They were both very kind and understanding of a rather emotionally involved owner!

Fantastic experience: I live in Wellington, but my dog was recently referred to Massey University for a complex surgery to remove a large mass that was sitting between his spine and bowel. He was unable to poop because the mass was pressing down on his bowel, making a very narrow passage for the poop to travel through. Even a large dose of laxatives daily didn't really help. They pretty much called me as soon as the referral was made and I took him up there the next day - he had a CT scan and tests to see if operating was viable, and it was - the lump was fully removed the next day - it was not attached to anything, had not spread, and appeared to be benign. I now have a completely new dog! Teng, the surgeon, was amazing - considered all the pros and cons, ran me through every step; the nurses were attentive and caring, and the reception staff friendly and helpful. They even opened the doors for me to pick him up on a public holiday! I thank you and Harley thanks you x

Fantastic experience: As most fur parents can imagine finding you fur baby injured can be a very scary situation. I am so thankful of the staff for looking after Prince. I felt like I could trust and understand everything that was said. They go above and beyond with care. I've experienced some bad vets in the past which has caused anxiety and fear of losing my fur baby but I felt he was safe and secure. Plus I was so worried about him I even forgot my phone at front desk but it was quickly returned.

Fantastic experience: Have used them twice for a dental procedure on my one beautiful golden girl. Both times receptionists have been friendly and staff have taken time to discuss and give informative feedback after both procedures. A well run veterinary practice I'd recommend to any in need of specialist services or just general checkups.

Fantastic experience: 110% cannot recommend these guys enough! We have had to travel over from Gisborne a couple of times due to late night emergencies with our Cockatiels, and have always had such an lovely experience with the team here (even at 2am). They obviously have very caring and experienced avian vets, and has been surprisingly affordable compared with our usual avian vet. Big thank you to Maddy who has dealt with us both times <3

Fantastic experience: We arrived to the emergency vet clinic last night and I have never been so impressed with the service we have received from a vet, Isabelle before. She was so calm, understanding and caring. Our big dog was stressed to start with and most vets would/have given up in the past. However, Isabelle found ways around this and by the end our dog was so calm and Isabelle was able to do everything she needed to, to ensure our dog was well looked after and was throughly checked. I can’t thank Massey vets enough, especially Isabelle! You truly made a stressful night far less stressful and a dog received the best care possible. So a huge thank you!

Fantastic experience: We managed to get our dog in for surgery after other vets said end of Feb/March. We were met promptly on our arrival by student vet Olena and very good consultation and then joined by surgeon Kas surgery went well - excellent communication updates by Olena and picked up our girl this morning. She now is under 8 weeks restricted movement and home care by us. We have been very impressed

Fantastic experience: Last night we had to come into see the Vets on duty at Massey Vets PALMERSTON NORTH. The wind had blown over our pet rabbits hutch and she was very badly hurt. We were looked after by Katie and lead Vet Jessie. They were absolutely superb! They kindness they showed us from the second we arrived right through to the end was absolutely amazing. My daughter was absolutely grief stricken and they were both amazing. We are eternally grateful for the kindness, care and empathy Jessie and Katie showed us. They talked us through everything, making sure we were ok every step of the way, making sure understood exactly what was happening, they validated our feelings and grief, didn't judge us or make us feel silly about bringing in our tiny wee mini-lop bunny, Jessie and Katie were the most amazing vets we've ever been looked after by. We are so grateful to them.

Negative experience: I rung. As my dog was sick , seizure an throwing up.. I live on old west road right across from the Massey entrance they told me they were almost full for the day and could only squeeze my dog in if it was urgent . and they had a chat between the team and came to a conclusion that my dog wasn't an urgent priority and that it was constipation . Take it home an call us if it gets worse they reakon. It was at its worst. My dog died 12 hours later. =( disappointed

Fantastic experience: Great service and communication. Our working dog Luna had a total hip replacement. We were very nervous going into the procedure, but felt confident after our consolation with the surgeon Andrew and Vet student Chase. They provided daily communication with how Luna was doing, pre and post opp. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service and care. The vet (Steve) was ultra enthusiastic and really comprehensive in analysing my schnauzer's issue. Nicole (5th year vet student) was also thorough and had an excellent bedside manner with my dog...really putting him at ease so they could run mobility tests. I had previously taken my schnauzer do a different vet two weeks earlier and they just gave a very brief look and said, just keep an eye on him and see how you get on. They didnt test his mobility to the same level as Nicole and Steve. Steve and Nicole were so much more thorough and made me feel like I was getting value for money. They suggested some medication that could potentially avoid having to get a radiograph - avoiding potentially unnecessary expense, but provided all of the information I needed if I did want to go down that path. Really impressed with the service...so professional and caring. The person at reception was also great, really fussing over my dog and making him feel at ease.

Fantastic experience: Incredible service, I can't remember our students name, but she was blonde and canadian maybe? She was so attentive and transparent through the whole process. The vet was also very helpful and they took their time doing thorough examinations of my kitten. The care my pet recieved was above and beyond, I fully trusted these people.

Negative experience: I am absolutely disgusted that nobody has called after I have left two emails with you and two phone calls regarding the death of our three puppies after their jabs. After talking to another vet clinic in Palmerston North and were told if our puppies had been seen to when we had first contacted you guys they would not have died and they had a 70% chance of survival. I left two phone calls for somebody to contact me and which they never did we were absolutely gutted to then have to turn around and tell the families who were taking these puppies to their forever homes that they died. Also we were told we were able to contact you if there were any concerns yet when I did contact you twice no one bothered to even contact me back we will never be using your services again I'm absolutely appalled that you don't even have the decency to contact me in regards to this issue that could have been avoided shame on you Massey University!!

Fantastic experience: Took my 6 months old kitten in emergency at midnight the team was very fast to get to her. They are very fast to respond to email and took good care of her, staff very friendly and comforting thank you so much!!!

Fantastic experience: Took my new puppy for their vaccination. Was greeted by both Kevanne and Ben who is a fifth yr student. They gave Oatis a thorough examination and walked through the options for injections and microchipping. Very interesting as also learn a little about the viruses that the injections combat as it’s also a learning/practical experience for Ben. Provided food for Oatis when he was getting his injections. Reception really friendly and welcoming and happy to invoice receipt. Also had a follow up call from Ben the following day to check in and ensure no issues.

Fantastic experience: What can I say, but truly the most amazing group, words cannot describe. Sadly I had to put my Boi of 14 down on 7th Nov 2021, keko, keeping it simple, the vet that night and the nurses were truly amazing, respectful of the final moments they handled everything so well, made the difficult time as straight forward process as possible with regards to cremation etc, the bill was not what I was expecting, completely reasonable, but the fact that stood out for me, is (and I know I'm probably going to get some hate) but I took my mask off before they administered the drug so keko and I could have that last moment, and nothing was said, which to me simply said these vets care more for the customer, and the pet than worrying about protocol. This act made the situation so much easier for both of us, especially breathing with tears flowing. For that I want to say a big big thank you,

Negative experience: No longer what it used to be. The second time I call them for an emergency and they redirected me to another vet who is 50 Kms away.

Fantastic experience: Would like to share the fantastic service we had on Sunday night 8.30ish from your lovely vet can't remember his name. The care and professionalist he gave was one in a million. Sadly we came for our fur baby to start a new journey.Also his nurse was excellent. Thanks again highly recommend you guys ❤️

Negative experience: Really, really bad. Extremely expensive for poor care and poor outcomes. Our little Siamese girl got mammary cancer, and we went to Massey for a CT of her lungs to check for metastasis. They told us that it had metastasized to her lungs, and very strongly advocated against operating to remove the tumours. They suggested we should just do palliative care and let her die. Thankfully, we got a second opinion, and they said it didn’t look like metastasis. We ignored Massey and decided to operate, and it turns out she didn’t have metastatic lung cancer after all. So all up, nearly 3,000 for a faulty diagnosis, which would have ended up killing our cat if we had listened to them.

Negative experience: Would avoid puppy preschool. It was a bit of a waste of time. Majority of it was talking and not much interaction. My poor dog was bored out of her mind and then we got told not to come back after the 3rd class because she couldn't sit still for the length of the lady talking (even I was struggling as she just repeated herself constantly and found we didn't learn anything of value) we also only went to three classes yet we still got charged full price. Would recommend taking your puppy to a different preschool or just learn from YouTube

Negative experience: Our dog went completely blind suddenly on Saturday - was initially told by the vet that observations were normal and had to push this further. Vets report was most likely ivermectin poisoning despite telling them on numerous occasions that there was none at home and dog had been on no other property. Went to our own vet on Monday morning, who advised within 10 minutes was clearly completely blind, and was very likely to be a cerebrovascular accident (e.g. stroke) and gave medication to try to help stabilise. Now hoping the 2 day delay in treatment doesn’t result in permanent blindness, but looks likely.

Fantastic experience: Massey vets are amazing. They take such great care of all animals they see. Special mention to Billy and Thomas who are the best there is.

Fantastic experience: 2 great experiences with massey vets. Extremely thorough, clean, caring, and friendly in 1 case our cat had to be put down. The vet we dealt with (late at night) was fantastic he made the situation so positive for my daughter and all free of charge due to no other vers beeb available at 10pm on a saturday night and our cat was in alot of pain. Great service! General prices are alot cheaper than town vets but they put our family before $$ because of the situation.

Negative experience: Dog stayed the night they told me to pick him up at 9am, waited for an hour... not a great service.

Positive experience: Good service, however over $600.00 to place a small amount of stitches to a wound is unrealistic, especially when that cost doesn't include removal. Not sure how you justify $170.00 consultation fee.

Fantastic experience: Wildbase vet Megan, saved our son’s rescue bearded dragon Otis, whom they gave a 50/50chance of surviving.(feb 27. 2017) She recieved the best care and survived because of it. She was also in a fire they had and they looked after her and got her thru it. (March 2017) She was also there in April 2018 for 28 days. Vet Nigel saved Anakins life when he was seriously injured and thought he was brain dead.(July 2017)
