Fantastic experience: This is a wonderful centre. Our girl just passed and they were so kind and gentle throughout the whole thing, even giving us a beautiful signed card from all of them with their sympathies. They’ve always taken great care with our cats, and such great care of us in the worst time. I recommend them highly for their amazing care of your pets, they are always our preferred veterinarian. you can tell they really love the animals they meet. Thank you for being so lovely to us, during our difficult time as well

Positive experience: I signed up to this clinic because of the stellar reviews on Google but overall had a mixed experience. I visited twice in the short timespan of a week. The first time was for basic vaccinations and check ups on my two cats and everything was really good. The vet they have is incredibly articulate and very thorough with examining them both, as well as the staff were incredibly friendly. A few days later I returned with just one of my cats as he was incredibly unwell and the staff kindly offered me a same day appointment to bring him in, which I really appreciated, and again the vet was helpful and clearly knowledgeable about feline health. However, during the appointment I was quoted around $1700 for chest X-rays, which surprised me. Since then I have contacted several other local clinics and was quoted around $250 for the same procedure. I’m not sure whether this was a miscommunication, an estimate including additional procedures, or simply a difference in pricing, but the gap was large enough that it left me feeling uncertain. To be fair to the vet, he seemed genuinely helpful and attentive during the consultation, so it may simply have been a case where the exact pricing wasn’t known at the time. I do wish the clinic had double-checked the estimate before quoting it though. Overall the staff were pleasant and the vet himself seemed very competent. To be fair the price of vaccinations and consults to this point have been pretty fair, so I want to give the clinic a bit of grace that this may have been a misunderstanding. However the pricing experience has made me feel less confident about the clinic and because of this I will likely be switching to another practice. I hope this feedback is helpful because aside from this issue the clinic seemed caring and professional.

Fantastic experience: On Monday 22 September 2025, the team at the Animal Medical Centre worked for over 3 hours to remove LFC - liquid filling concrete - from the paws and other places of my cat Morgan La Fay. When Morgan got home and had recovered from sedation, she was completely back to normal. How Morgan came to walk through LFC is a long story which I will not recount. I do need to say 2 things, though, to make clear what a miracle the team achieved. The first is that, by the time I got her to the vet on Monday afternoon, the LFC had been on her paws and other places for 24 hours. She sounded like a ballet dancer en pointe when she walked around and kept hitting her ear with her back paw when trying to scratch it. The second is that Morgan is a cat with a very definite list of "nots" - do not walk towards me, do not pick me up, do not put me in a cage, do not leave me with strangers, do not touch my paws ... and on it goes. I knew she would have to be in a crush cage and I knew that even crush cages have their limits. The AMC team got all the hard-baked concrete off Morgan and left her with no ill-effects. That truly was a magnificent piece of work. I cannot speak highly enough of their ingenuity, patience, dedication, and veterinary knowledge and I am deeply grateful to them all. Thank you again to everyone who helped.

Fantastic experience: Mike has cared for my pets for many years, his kindness and the respectful way he managed the passing of my cat made a very difficult time that bit better. His ongoing care for my very anxious 14 year old dog is fabulous, he is patient, kind and thoughtful and Dougal has never minded going to see him. I shouldn't leave a review without mentioning Antoinette, who is always welcoming and receptive to the needs of people and pets who use their service. Overall having had pets for most of my life I can say without reservation that this is the best vet clinic I have used.

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with animal medical centre! We had a very sick dog on a Friday afternoon before a long weekend. There were no free appointments, but they shuffled things round so we could come in. We saw Justin who was beyond amazing. He told us what he thought was wrong, told us how to care for her at home, what to do if she got worse over the long weekend, and when to come back and have her seen again. He was very thorough and talked us through everything. I couldn't have asked for more. I was expecting to spend $500+ and it was only $80 odd. Such a positive outcome for what was a very scary time. From a warm welcome from reception to feeling genuine care for our dog from the Mike. He listened and answered all of my concerns and got back to me very quickly with test results.

We had to have our elderly cat put down - he'd not been a sick cat so our engagement with the vets over his life was limited, but when it came to his end of life they treated him with such care and consideration. When we get our next pet we'll definitely go back to Matt and his team.

Positive experience: I have used this vet service for many years for my feline companions. I am very happy to recommend Mike and his team, especially as they now make home visits due to my increased mobility issues. being unable to take my cat to the vet when needed is very upsetting and not acceptable for a pet owner.

Fantastic experience: We have used Animal Medical centre for a number of years now, and as we live rural, we have many different animals and a quantity of each, I have always found Mike and Staff, treat our pets with the greatest respct and care, That care carries over to make sure we as owners know exactly what each examination,and ongoing care package entails. Its refreshing because its like being in a vet lecture, but at our level, not just ploughing with an examination and using by words no one understands, The Administration / Nurses also are excellent, and have sometimes had to do a last minute squeeze in for us, Always with a professional caring manner and a kind word. I would recommend this team, (as you cant have excellent medical staff without excellent support) Animal Medical are the complete team.

Easy parking, super nice staff, great selection of animal treatments. Macksie have old joints but the staff help manage it without doping her up to the eyeballs. Fantastic experience: On Monday, December 30, my vet and I agreed that it was time to put my beloved dog down and made an appointment to do so the following day. However, when I woke up on December 31, I could not think of anything more unpleasant than saying goodbye to my dog at the clinic. I called over twenty vet practices from the Kapiti Coast to the Wairarapa and everywhere in between to see if someone could offer at home euthanasia. With little hope, I rang Animal Medical Centre and the receptionist immediately took my name and number and called Dr. Mike who was out off the office to see if he would consider it - he agreed to come to my house, and arrived 2.5 hours later on the same day. In the meantime, I was able to prepare a room with all of my dog's favorite toys, and flowers, and spend my final moments with him in a familiar and comfortable space. Best of all, I was able to have my friends and family members who live overseas join virtually to say their goodbyes. While there is never an easy time to say farewell, this was the most peaceful and compassionate way to do it - and it would not have been possible without Dr. Mike and Victoria. They gave me space to say a few parting words to my dog after he passed, and suggested we settle up for payment once the cremation was ready for pick -up, allowing me to focus on the events of the day. My only regret is not establishing care with Animal Medical Centre prior to this instance. Many, many thanks for making the most unbearable of situations a little bit more tolerable. (My friends and family who joined virtually also noted the compassion of the care team and how gentle and caring they were with my dog.)

Fantastic experience: My normal vet couldn’t see my cat today, and it was urgent since he’s had a suspected stroke. The folks at Animal Medical Centre were happy to make room and see my big boy at short notice. The vet (sorry I forget his name - it’s been a stressful day!) was gentle and knowledgeable and gave me extra info I hadn’t been told; coming up with some good ideas to get my cat to eat and feel better. I really appreciate the people at Animal Medical Centre for helping my little man today and I highly recommend. Thank you heaps!
