Fantastic experience: I have been with Crofton Downs clinic for over 20 years, with one break away. My cats have always received the best care from dedicated vets. Recently my cats were treated by Archie. Archie has great empathy with animals, such a comfort when your fur baby is unwell. Archie is clear and concise with his diagnosis and treatment, and is an extremely nice person. Reception staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgraceful veterinary services. Disgusted at the miscommunication that has left our family pet clinging on for dear life. We are truely let down and I’d like to let everyone know that we wouldn’t recommend this vet practice if you’re looking for somewhere that truely cares. It feels like these guys just want your money sadly.

Fantastic experience: The team at this clinic are amazing! Dr Ben is awesome - in addition to the high quality of care, he also patiently answers my usually many questions, and explains in detail which I appreciate. The nurses are lovely too. My cat Baylee can be difficult to deal with as she gets nervous and wants to get away, but the team here are gentle while keeping her still, and are patient with her, which puts me at ease, too. I never feel like I’m being seen as dramatic etc or not taken seriously by raising any concerns or being more proactive about my furbaby’s health and wellbeing. Also noting - the cattery is very nice and has a catio. Baylee was well looked after during her stay there.

The lovely vet I saw prescribed medication but I knew at 13 , Angel wouldn’t live too much longer . Sadly , she died last week . I took her back in here to be cremated . The girls on reception who attended to me and Angel were fantastic - such compassion and empathy . I highly recommend Crofton Downs veterinary clinic and now wouldn’t go anywhere else . Fantastic experience: Our dog loves going to the vet, gets all excited-wiggling shaking from nose to tail, even if the appt will cause a bit of pain, he behaves himself. He knows where all the treats are too. The team at Crofton Downs Vet looks after him so well.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough of this Vet Practice. I had just lost my elderly tabby to heart failure when the Vets spoke to me about a ginger cat that had been taken to the Clinic to be euthansed. The owner had died and his family could not keep him. The necessary form for euthanasia had been filled out and fee paid. However the Vets insisted that a rehoming form also be filled out, the agreement being that euthanasia should be the last option and if a new home was found the fee would go towards his care. It is now 8 years since that poor wee cat was brought to me. He arrived with a carry cage, a well worn tartan rug, an ample supply of wet food and minus most of his teeth! In giving a pre rehoming health check, it was found that virtually every tooth was decayed and needed extraction; although this was several hundred dollars more than the euthanasia fee, I did not have to pay anything. We are no longer young but "Scotties" company continues to so enrich our lives. Thank you CDVC for match making this incredible relationship. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic experience: Best vets in Wellington. The staff are amazing and so kind and attentive to my pets. I wouldn't take them anywhere else!

Negative experience: Administered my dog with cartrophen after informing me that my dog's first investigation for arthritis prompted him to watch for bone cancer and the blood test, plus a subsequent one a few weeks later, showed elevated liver enzymes. Both are directly contraindicated for Cartrophen which is a powerful mitogen i.e potentiates cell growth. Despite the elevated liver enzymes no further tests were carried out to identify the cause. My dog was dead 8 weeks later - the initial MRI showing no cancer. The vets at Massey said it was the cartrophen. The administering of the cartrophen was opportunistic, given at the counter as we left. After announcing my dog may need to be monitored for bone cancer, I was naturally upset. Given the clear contraindications, I can only surmise that he exploited my emotions for financial gain, not to mention whatever gain may have been at hand from the drug company. The contraindications were clearly labelled, the repeat visits notifying something was wrong with my normally happy springer yielding no professional actions. The reaction was also appalling. I fully recommend Wellington Vets who have an outstanding reputation and did their level best to clean up their mess but it was too late. Ever watch a dog take 5 minutes to be euthanised due to their liver being decimated? Ever want to watch your dog decline in 8 weeks and the vet stand by and do nothing despite blood tests coming back with warning signs? Not an experience I recommend.

Exactly the right support at this difficult time, never influencing her decision, but accurately answering her questions, assuring her of the reasonableness of what she saw had to happen. A sympathy card a few days later. Never come across such spot on care and attention, to both animal and person.
